This site has been created in English language at a time, when a reasonably well working automatic translation tool was not yet available. As the site contains a lot of pages that have to be maintained, there is - unfortunately - little time to have everything translated by a human. Still, for some visitors an automatic translation could still be a help, even if the translation quality isn't quite so good yet. In the end, it is better to have some kind of translation rather than having none at all.

Therefore the final decision was to integrate the automatic translation tool for the following languages:

As a native German speaker, I gave it a try and checked the results in German. Admittedly German is not exactly an easy language to learn, so I did not expect the results from the automatic translation to be impressive. In fact they were not and results were pretty mixed. While in most cases they should be sufficient to "retrieve" the essential information from the text, almost all sentences contain a bunch of mistakes. I can't tell for other languages like Chinese or Arabic, as I do not speak them.

However, if for any reason the automatic translation produces something which you may feel to be inappropriate or offensive, please accept my apologies and remember that it is an automatic translation by a machine.

Last but not least it should be noted that the design of the site becomes quite a mess when translated to another language. This is in part for the translation tool itself and in part for the different length of texts in each language. I will not take any action on this, as it would mean a lot of work on the design of the site. That work that could soon become obsolete, when changes are made to the translation tool itself. So please accept, that the automatic translation tool for this site is a beta kind of thing which is likely to remain buggy in the near-term future. Thank your for your indulgences...
