Panoramas on the island of Mallorca for 1920x1200 screens, fullscreen enabled. Choose the region you are interested in to view more detailed maps.

Editors's choice of panoramas:

View on the central square in Fornalutx. The town is famous for its beautiful houses and the flowers in front of them. The village is arguably one of the most beautiful ones on the island.

The springs in Campanet, only there in early autumn each year. Impressive how the water comes out of the earth. As the springs are located on a private property, only one or two weekends a year, you have the chance to visit the place.

Full spherical panorama in front of the sanctuary Ermita de la Victoria in the north of Mallorca. Close to the lovely square and the sanctuary there is a restaurant and a vantage point. The place is only a few minutes north of Alcudia.

View around the Plaza Mayor in Palma de Mallorca from the very centre of the place. This central square is usually very crowded as
most of the tiny narrow shopping streets terminate here. In the summer it is full of people in the cafés.

The first panorama on Mallorca, taken at the beach of Illetas in August 2001. Starting off with this panorama, has been the kick-off for this very section and the dozens of panoramas available today.

Welcome to the panoramas of Mallorca:

Mallorca is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Europe. Therefore you will be able to find thousands of photos in the internet, in books and catalogues. One of those pictures gives you a first idea of what Mallorca may look like. However, it is only a real spherical panorama of excellent resolution that lets you feel as if you were there. This is the idea that drives this page. Providing you the best panoramas available for the island of Mallorca.

Background on the panorama creation:

Initially most of the panoramas have been taken with an ordinary consumer level digital camera and a simple tripod. This only allowed for cubical panoramas. As of 2006, most panoramas are created from 47 images, each 6 megapixel in size. By using a special Manfrotto pano head on a very stable DÖRR tripod, new panoramas are now mostly full spherical panoramas with a resolution of 12000x6000 pixel. The creation of the panoramas is actually performed in PTgui and the conversion to Quicktime with the freeware tool "Panocube". The creation of one panorama takes about 1/2 hour for the setup & shooting, another hour of preliminary editing, about 2 hours for the controlpoints, another 3 hours for final editing and conversion.

Known Issues:

Some panos contain flare, tripod shades and slight misalignments. It is a matter of time in the end, so please accept slight imperfections.

Technical Information:

Most panoramas are made for quicktime. The plug-in is available for free from http://www.apple.com.

Please keep in mind, that Quicktime is an Active-X an you need to allow those to be executed in your browser options. This site does not contain malware or any exploit code whatsoever.

With the exception of only a few, most panoramas are of very high quality, made up of a total of up to 72 million pixel. As a result the file size ranges from 2 to 15 Mb. You should have a high-speed internet connection to enjoy this section.
